Prevention of COPD
By: Barb Keck
Interestingly enough researchers from the French research institute Inserm conducted a study over 12 years with almost 43,000 men concluding that a Mediterrnean diet lowers the risk by 50% of serious lung disease like emphysema and bronchitis even after taking factors such as smoking and age into account.
If you are currently smoking, you are at great risk of receiving the disease and should consider quitting to avoid chronic coughs and shortness of breath for the rest of your life.
Take these steps to benefit your health and decrease chances of getting COPD:
- Stop smoking to save your life!
- Refraining from being indoors with other smokers.
- Remember to get an influenza vaccine to avoid catching a cold, which creates respiratory problems. Wash your hands frequently to keep germs from spreading.
- Nutrition – learn what foods will keep you healthy
